How We Came Up With This Organization

We are high school students who were motivated to take action after seeing the lack of safe drinking water in many coastal communities across Bangladesh.

Through our nonprofit initiative, we have reached 13,000 people in Shyamnagar, Satkhira, one of the coastal areas most affected by groundwater salinity. Our core work has involved modelling and assembling our own water purification and desalination units, designed to provide communities with safer drinking water. We have also conducted education programs in schools to teach students about water safety, water quality, and the core functions of the purification systems we assembled in the NSU lab. Through this work, we aim to be the first student-led nonprofit of this scale in Bangladesh focused on developing and implementing engineering-based solutions to coastal water challenges.

Alongside our technical work, we have collected and tested water samples from Satkhira, which were then sent to the Asia Arsenic Network for testing multiple parameters. This allows us to better understand local water quality and share relevant findings with the communities we work with.

Our work is carried out under the supervision of Prof. Jakariya, Director of the Climate Change & Disaster Resilience Center at North South University. We are also supported through access to laboratory facilities at the Asia Arsenic Network, one of the leading organizations in Bangladesh for rigorous water-quality testing, allowing us to conduct scientific testing and research using precise results alongside established methods and protocols.

By combining engineering, scientific research, and community engagement, we aim to create solutions that improve access to safe drinking water. What began as a small student-led effort has grown into a broader initiative focused on addressing some of Bangladesh’s most pressing water challenges.
